The MX Revolution is one of the latest models in Logitech’s top-of-the-line cordless laser mice. The MX Revolution is a comfortable, precise, rechargeable cordless mouse that works with both Windows and Mac computers.
I used the Logitech MX 1000 laser mouse for a number of years at work, and nothing had but good reviews for the device. I recently got rid of my Apple Mighty Mouse in my home office, in favor of the latest MX laser mouse: the MX Revolution.
Ergonomics
The Logitech MX Revolution is a very well crafted input device. Its size and contours fit perfectly in the palm of my hand, and the thumb rest keeps my opposable digit from resting on the desk or mouse pad. My thumb resting on the desk is a pet peeve, which makes the MX Revolution’s thumb rest my favorite ergonomic design feature.
Speed and Precision
I work fast. I don’t want a mouse that slows me down. The MX Revolution has fast, precise laser tracking, and a number of features that keep me going without delays.
I have not made frequent use of scroll wheels lately — when browsing the web, I prefer the Page Up/Page Down and Space bar buttons in order to quickly jump up and down web pages. That said, the MX Revolution’s scroll wheel is winning back some attention — its hyper-fast scrolling lets me flick the wheel with my finger and fly up and down any scrollable window at top speed. And sometimes I just do it for fun.
Another favorite time-saving button is the MX Revolution’s back button… on my Mac, I use it to trigger Exposé’s “All Windows” function.
Rechargeable
Buying batteries is a waste of money, and I never remember to plug in rechargeables. The MX Revolution is rechargeable just like its predecessors, which is a big plus in my book. I would much rather drop my mouse into its dock than fiddle around with AA’s.
The MX’s battery level indicator always lets you know how much juice is remaining. The battery does an excellent job of holding a charge — I am using the MX Revolution for 8-10 hours per day, and recharge perhaps once a week. Maybe the MX Revolution could give the iPhone 3G some lessons on making its electrons last.
Final Thoughts
Logitech’s MX laser mice have been my favorite mice for a number of years. They are comfortable, well designed, and let me work as fast as I want. If you are looking for a new mouse, you can pick up the Logitech MX Revolution at Amazon.com.
