Google has released Google Earth for the iPhone allowing anyone with an Apple mobile to “carry the Earth around in your pocket”. They promise all of the same global imagery and 3D terrain, as well as the links to photos and Wikipedia articles found in the desktop version of Google Earth.
In addition to porting over features from the desktop, Google Earth for iPhone implements a few new tricks that take advantage of the iPhone’s capabilities. The accelerometer lets you control certain features by moving your phone, and the software is able to tie into the 3G’s GPS system to offer location-based functions.
Google Earth for iPhone is available in the iTunes Store free of charge.
