Robert Scoble says “Twitter warning: your account data is being sold” in reference to the conversation around Mark Trapp’s tweet that Twply.com has been sold.

Twply is a brand new service that sends Twitter @replies to your e-mail address. In order to use Twply one must supply the service with their Twitter username and password. Twply’s sale has unnerved many since it can be assumed that all Twitter data regarding users who signed up for Twply, including passwords, will be transferred to the new owner.

Commenter Riane says people who are worried about the situation “are idiots who run around with their heads chopped off, always assuming the worst”. Another going by the name of Twply states that “the service was sold due to the founder’s inability to cope with high server load“. At the time of its launch and the following sale, Twply did not have a Privacy Policy nor any Terms of Use.

Whatever the case may be with Twply, commenter Terry has it right: change your Twitter password.
