Picasa for Mac is Finally Released

Monday, January 5, 2009

Google has finally released Picasa for Mac, which means all the great photo organization and editing features enjoyed by PC & Linux Picasa users are finally available to those of us on Macs.

In “Bye Bye iPhoto”, Duncan Reilly says he never felt iPhoto came close to Picasa and I agree — iPhoto is fine for casual digital camera users, but Picasa is the real powerhouse. One of the Picasa features I have really missed is its ability to actively catalog all the images on your system, adding new ones automatically.

I have also found Picasa to be a great tool for managing image and photo resources in an organizational setting. Install the software on everyone’s workstations, point it at the network images drive or folder and you’re good to go. And its built-in support for online print ordering and non-destructive image editing makes working with images a breeze for everyone.
