Using Picasa with your digital camera

Tuesday, March 7, 2006

I’m not impressed with the software that came with my digital camera – is there something better than I can use to organize my photographs?

Picasa, photo software from Google, is an intuitive program for organizing your collection of digital photographs (or any other images). Picasa is available from http://picasa.google.com.

Once installed, Picasa will scan your system for images or organize them into a collection of albums. The name of each album is determined by the name of the folder that its collection of photos were found in, but you can changes these. To get a new roll of digital photographs off of your camera, simply plug your camera into your computer with its USB cable. Wait a few seconds and you should see an “Import” button in Picasa with a picture of a camera located on it. Click this button and you’ll be able to browse and copy the photos on your camera.
