When those of you who use Gmail log into your account, you’ll notice that Google has added a handful of new features to their already amazing e-mail service. Here’s a run down of what the big G has put together for you.

New forward & reply icons and functionality

Where there used to be just text links, there are now icons that represent each individual e-mail task, i.e. forward and reply. A reply button has also been added to the top of each message, and a brand new “Forward All” option lets you forward entire conversations (as opposed to just messages within a conversation).

Get notified of new messages, mid-conversation

If a new e-mail within an existing conversation is received, and you’re looking at that conversation, you’ll see this little notification alert you of the new message.

Offline GChat

Now, your GChat messages won’t be lost just because your friend signs off. If you send a GChat message to a disconnected user, that user will still see your message the next time they log in.

A new view for message details

Click on “show details” at the top of a message, and you’ll see that each recipient is displayed on a separate line, with GChat status indicators next to each gmail user. The first time you do this, you’ll also see a little balloon alert you to the fact that the other message options have been moved.

Click on the down arrow next to “reply”, and you’ll see the other message options, e.g. “report phishing”, “delete this message”.

GMail Mobile

GMail Mobile has also gotten a significant upgrade - the mobile client is now optimized for use on mobile phones. Same GMail interface, faster response and more.
