Virtually all computers can be “put to sleep”, although Mac users will notice that their computers go to sleep and wake up a lot quicker than PCs. This is because sleep a Mac’s sleep mode doesn’t entirely shut down the system, and the computer still consumes a small bit of power while it’s asleep. PCs on the other hand, completely shut down during hiberation. LifeHacker has linked to an article that describes how Mac users can, through a little bit of hacking, modify their system to go into a zero-power sleep mode, similar to their PC counterparts. Using this hack will cause your Mac to come out of hibernation a little bit slower, but it can be a welcome trade-off for laptop users who want to save on battery life.
