gtk-recordmydesktop is a Linux app that lets you record a screencast. The program will record whatever you do and save the video in Ogg Vorbis format. “Creating Screencasts in Linux with gtk-recordmydesktop” by gHacks.net describes a number of configuration changes that will increase the quality of your screencast – the author was not impressed with the default settings but was able to change a few options and get the output to his liking.
