Computer Repair Utility Kit was a collection of PC diagnostic and repair utilities that could be used to fix my of the common problems experienced by computer users. These problems include slow performance, security threats such as viruses and trojans, and data recovery. Most of these programs can be installed on a portable USB drive. The package was very useful, especially for anyone who operates as a computer repair technician.
Unfortunately the Computer Repair Kit can no longer be downloaded as an all-in-one package. The creators of many of the programs included in this kit have asked Technibble to stop hosting their files for download.
Fortunately, all of the programs that were included in Computer Repair Kit are still available online. The process of obtaining the entire kit is now just a little bit more tedious since each application must be downloaded separately. “A Computer Repair Utility Kit You Can Run From a Thumb Drive” by Lidija Davis of ReadWriteWeb is a list of links to and descriptions of each utility in the kit. Applications in the Computer Repair Kit
There are over 50 applications in the kit, some of which have been previously covered by Of Zen and Computing. Here are a few of our favorites:
- Process Explorer — An improved Task Manager that shows files, registry keys, and DLLs that are currently in use.
- Recuva — Recover files deleted from hard drives, memory cards and MP3 players.
- CCCleaner — Frees up disk space by removing unnecessary files and settings.
- Network Stumbler — View available wireless network signals.
