One’s online reputation is important, especially when looking for employment. Registering your name on many different sites reduces the chances that someone might mistake a stranger’s online activity for your own — many people register their name on every new service they find, even if they have no intention of using the site. If you follow that route, make sure you stay on top of which websites release dormant accounts for re-registration.
