
I must agree with Hack Your Day’s description of YouTube comments — most of them are so banal and utterly ridiculous that reading them tends to be a complete waste of time. There are probably a few meaningful quips hidden among the trash though, and so I point you to “Filter YouTube Comments” by Google Operating System. … YouTube added some advanced options for comments. You can now hide the comments that include “coarse language and racial slurs” or hide all the comments. Just click on “Options” next to “Text comments” and filter the comments.
“Google tips FCC about new YouTube comment filtering system” by Ars Technica goes further in-depth regarding the new YouTube comment filtering system. According to Ars, the new feature was introduced to the FCC by Google as a way to make the site more family-friendly.
YouTube comment filtering can used by clicking the “Options” link next to the “Text Comments” heading that appears directly above the first comment, below the video player.
