“Ubuntu Commands That Will Kill Your Computer” by Daily Cup of Tech is a list of various commands and bits of code that can either destroy a Linux system, or bring it to its knees.
These cruel practical jokes have been around for a while — as long as I can remember using the Internet for communication, from messages boards to Internet Relay Chat to modern social networking sites, I’ve seen pranksters suggesting to someone that they run a command like rm -rf /. The command rm means “Remove”… this particular command removes everything.
Experienced system administrators usually have safeguards in place to prevent a system from falling victim to a prank such as this, but the trend of home users adopting friendly desktop operating systems like Ubuntu Linux provides a whole new group of unsuspecting targets. If you are considering moving to Linux or any other Unix-based operating system you should familiarize yourself with this list of commands and be sure to never execute any of them unless you know exactly what you are doing.
