How can I disable Gadgets in Windows 7?

Bring up Windows Features from the Control Panel

Disable Windows Gadget Platform
Find the Windows Gadget Platform option and remove the check mark from the box to its left, then click the “OK” button. If the box does not contain a check mark, then Gadgets have already been disabled.
