Askville works quite simply: go to the Askville website, type your question into the box, and press “Ask the Community”. Your question goes off into the Askville database where other members of the Askville community will see it, and possibly respond with answers. Answers that relate to products offered in the Amazon.com store usually appear with links and pictures of those products.
For those with questions that may already have been answered, as well as those simply waiting for their questions to fetch a response, there’s Askville’s existing Q&A database (once your question is answered, it stays on the Askville site for others with similar inquiries). Navigating the Q&A database facilitated by keywords and phrases (”tags”) that can be assigned to each question.
Members of the Askville site are motivated to answer your questions through a rewards system called “Quest Coins”, that will have value in a future Amazon site called Questville. What sort of things these Quest Coins will buy you from Questville, we don’t yet know.
Other existing Q&A sites include Answers.com, Yahoo! Answers, and Ask MetaFilter.
