Windows Vista LogoFrom Amit Agarwal of Digital Inspiration comes “Check Compatibility of Your Current Software with Windows Vista“, a collection of simple tips for making sure all your software will continue to work, should you make the upgrade to the new Microsoft Windows Vista on January 30th.

“Windows Vista official launch is just a week away and all new PCs will probably ship preloaded with Windows Vista now. So the most common question today is about application compatibility – will the existing software versions and games work the same with Windows Vista?”

Agarwal has a series of simple steps you can take to make sure everything you need works with Vista, should you upgrade. His advice includes:

  • Go directly to the source and ask the software vendors.
  • Use the Windows Vista free trial DVD and software called VMWare Workstation 6.0 and install Vista as a “guest operating system”, allowing you to test software under Vista without ditching XP.
  • Use the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor, which is a piece of software from Microsoft that will search for issues among all of the software installed on your computer.
