Some computer manufacturers may not enable certain Windows Vista options that make the most of fonts on-screen, and so the fonts you’re seeing may look sub-par. To get your fonts looking their best, you’ll need to enable font smoothing, which Microsoft has implemented through a program called “ClearType”.
Font smoothing is a feature that smooths out the edges of text on your screen, eliminating sharp, pixelated edges.
Enabling ClearType is as simple as checking off a box and hitting “Ok”. Tech help site The How-To Geek has step-by-step instructions for doing so. Just follow along with “Why Do My Windows Vista Fonts Look Horrible?” to give your Vista fonts a face-lift.
