Hey thanks for trying to help out… I did everything correct but I still can’t get passed the IP address it fails every time, do you have any suggestions(I’m using the ethernet cable that came with the 360 to hook up to my macbook pro and I’m using my neighbors router we split the internet and I was wondering if that had anything to do with it. PLEASE HELP ME OUT THIS IS GETTING RETARTED I’VE TRIED ALMOST EVERYTHING IT SEEMS

I’ve taken down my firewall and it still says that I’ve failed my DNS test. What do I do?

Thanks a log i got this sorted without too much trouble at all. Great tutorial! I had a small problem at the start when i typed “ifconfig en0″ and did not get an inet ip (like many before me) but after mucking around a bit it decided to show up for me.

I am having the same Problem as Robert Cox, I followed your instructions (my settings turned out to be the same as yours with the IP addresses and router address)
I am able to connect to my xbox live, but not to my media.
I’m using an ethernet connection from my 360 to my macbook, the macbook being on a wi-fi connection. Any help getting my media connection to work would be appreciated.

I can’t get past the IP address. I hope i didnt mix this up but, this is my set up. Macbook recieving a wireless connection from a router in my house. I have an ethernet cable hooked up from my macbook to my xbox 360. I’ve had no trouble getting information from my macbook. I have both the router IP and the other IP. Yet, i cant get past step 1 =/

Here’s the actual way with these instructions:

1. Enable your Ethernet connection from your Network in the System Preferences.

2. Enable Internet Connection Sharing for Airport from the Sharing option in System Preferences and select the Ethernet to share it to.

3. Open a termial window and type ifconfig en0 , this will then give you the inet number for your ethernet usually, 192.168.2.1.

4. Then enter your manual settings on the Xbox 360/Xbox.

works great, but NAT is set to ’strict’ any ideas how to get it ‘open’?
