Virb is a new social networking website, similar to services like MySpace and Friendster. The folks at Virb are in the final stages of beta testing, and are getting ready to release their product unto the world.
From a quick glance, Virb appears to be a polished version of the current social networking sites. Virb offers all of the social networking features you’d expect — a personality profile, friend lists, groups, blogging, and layout customization. Virb will also host your photos and videos. At the moment, they allow each profile to store 150 photos and 15 videos.
Perhaps the most interesting feature in Virb’s interface is their “Music Dashboard”. By befriending artists with Virb profiles, you’re able to track playlists, tracks and upcoming shows. Your songs are automatically analyzed and uploaded to your Virb profile through an iTunes plug-in called VirbTunes.
I’ve got a beta account on Virb courtesy of Matt Herzberger. If any Of Zen and Computing readers are interested in testing out Virb, I have 15 beta invitations to share. I’ll send them off to the first 15 comments to this post (make sure to fill in the e-mail address field).
