Import clip art from another program into WordPerfect

Friday, March 24, 2006

Despite Mircrosoft Word’s domination on the word processing world, there are a subset of people who’ve been processing words for a long time and refuse to let go of their love for WordPerfect. So for those people, here’s a clip-art tip: to import clip-art from another file or program, follow these steps…

  1. Click Insert and move the mouse over Graphics.
  2. A new submenu will appear - click on Clip Art.
  3. When the clip-art window appears, click on My Favorites.
  4. Click on the Import Clips button. It’s located on the right side of the clip-art window.
  5. Browse to the folder containing the graphics that you want to import and click on the file you want.
    1. If you want to select more than one file, click on the first filename, then hold down shift and click on the last filename. Those two files and all those in between will be selected.
  6. Press the Open button.
    1. You’ll be asked if you want to enter information for the files you’ve selected. If you’ve selected a large number of images, you might want to say “no” lest you feel like entering a name for every single file that’s imported.
  7. Wait for all of your clip-art to finish importing, then insert the images that you’d like in your document.

This tip was tested with WordPerfect Office v. 12. The procedure may be different if you use another version.
