Urbanfonts.com (via Pirillo’s Picks) offers free fonts and dingbats downloads, for both PC and Mac. Visitors to Urbanfonts.com can browse their font library alphabetically by name, or search for specific fonts. Commercial fonts are also for sale, in their own section.
Most of the font web sites you’ll find on the Internet are garbage, as many of you already know. They’re littered with advertisements, and they pump you for personal information so they can send waves of spam. Worst of all, most of the “free fonts” sites out there don’t actually offer many free fonts. Many of them try to draw you in with a few free downloads, or simply the word “free” repeated over and over, and in the end they’re just trying to sell you zipped up font packages.
Urbanfonts.com is a welcome change from the rest of the font scammers. Urbanfonts.com says they offer free fonts, and they deliver. The site is neat and clean, and although advertising is present, it’s not overdone. Best of all, Urbanfonts.com clearly separates fee fonts and commercial fonts into separate categories — something which shows a great deal of respect to their visitors.
