if the shift key for 8 sec. dont work then try this:

*** MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS SAVED BEFORE DOING THIS!!!!!! ***

*control panel
*performance and maintenance
*system restore (this might be on the side bar or in main window)
*try 'restore my comp. to an earlier time' & if it doesnt show you the date that it
happened then try 'create a restore point' and type in the month day year
ex. july 24 2008
*now everything should be working fine
**NOTE: this may work for other things to!!!

Microsoft's accessibility features are primarilly encountered when they impare unimpared users. Obviously nobody wants to rant about them too hard because it feels unnervingly like having a go at disabled people, but what I find infuriating is the dialogue box that comes up when you hold down the shift key.

Considering you've just turned something on, you don't know what it is, you'd quite reasonably assume clicking "cancel" will turn it off, or there'll be some option in Settings, or if you could just okay out of the dialogue box and the hellish prison windows that are closing in on you would just leave you alone for five seconds and stop ruining your life and we could just go back to typewriters, inaccessible to most fully able people, it would all be fine, then you find out off some clever little website that you just have to press both shift keys and it goes away. Did the dialogue box tell you that? No, you had to search google in all caps like some angry little forum troll, I ask you, why do we continue to suffer these indignities, if the issue is not resolved immediately I will be forced to take my own life!

Bloody Brilliant! Who could possibly need such a debilitating feature? I can’t fathom that feature making anyone’s life easier, but hey, each to his own. Thanks for the advice!
