I want to change the size and location of Internet Explorer’s toolbars, but IE won’t let me adjust them. How can I do this?
This is a little nuance that actually trips up a lot of people - Internet Explorer has a “locking” option that, when enabled, will not allow you to adjust any of its toolbars.
Take a look at these two screenshots. Although they appear very similar, the one on the left is showing the toolbars unlocked and the other one on the right, locked. You must unlock the toolbars before you can rearrange and resize them; to do this, click on View, click on Toolbars and then make sure that Lock the Toolbars is not checked. If it is checked, click on it to uncheck it. Once the toolbars are unlocked, you’ll see “grips” appear at the edge of each toolbar (these grips are circled in red above). Click and hold on each grip to move that toolbar around. If you move the mouse over the top or bottom border of each toolbar, the pointer will turn to a double-sided arrow that will let you resize the toolbar.
