I’m trying to print out a web page. I can see the page on the screen, but when I print it out all I get is an ad banner. Am I doing anything wrong?
I have seen a number of websites give people this problem, including a few high-profile news websites. You get to a story you want, click the print icon and either a blank page or a few advertisements print out. The website may be coded incorrectly, the wrong stylesheets may be loaded, there may be a blank or missing print stylesheet, this may even be intentional… whatever the problem may be, there’s still a way for you to get your printout.
First, try to find a “print” link on the page you’re trying to print. I don’t mean clicking File > Print and I don’t mean clicking the print icon at the top of your browser window - I mean look in the actual content of the web page for a link or icon that says “print”, “print this story”, “print this page” or something similar. Many websites employ a “print this” link that will send you to a printer-friendly version of the page.
If you cannot locate a “print this page” link, then copy and paste the website into a word processing program like Word, Wordperfect, Pages or OpenOffice and then print from there.
