Google Calendar has rolled out the ability to set reminders for individual events using all the usual methods — pop-up, e-mail, and SMS text messages.
This is an update I’ve been waiting for, and often wondered why GCal didn’t support it in the first place. A while back I set up an important event and turned on SMS reminders so I would get the notification on my mobile phone. The notification worked like a charm, however I forgot to turn off SMS notifications afterwards. The next morning, I was rudely awoken at 5:30am by a text message from Google, alerting me to a minor event I’d recorded. It was at this point that I scratched my head and wondered why I couldn’t set up individual reminders.
This Google Calendar update remedies that problem, and I can be sure that Google won’t be getting me out of bed again anytime soon. All that’s required for adding additional, individual reminders is to edit the details of your event, and add the reminder in the “Options” box (expand it if necessary).
