If you’ve ever had iPod issues after disconnecting from a Vista PC, Microsoft has released an update that may help you out.
A new download from Microsoft corrects a Windows Vista flaw that caused data corruption on certain users’ iPods. Vista has features that claim to “safely remove hardware”, but an error in the system actually caused data corruption when using those features to safely remove an iPod.
The patch is available from Microsoft Help & Support, under the “Update Information” heading. If you specifically know that you have a 64-bit Vista PC, download the version labeled “64-bit”. Otherwise, you should download the version labeled “x86″. To install this update, you will have to validate your PC with Windows Genuine Advantage.
