How to Delete Comments from Your WordPress Blog

Sunday, June 17, 2007

A visitor left some inappropriate comments on my WordPress blog. How can I delete those comments?

Any comment left on your WordPress blog can be deleted through the Manage screen. Log into the WordPress Administration Panel by going to http://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin, and click on “Manage”. It should be located in the navigation menu at the top of the screen, underneath your blog’s name.

After the Manage section loads, you should proceed to Comments Management. In the secondary menu that has appeared under “Manage”, click on Comments.

The Comment Management section shows you all your blog’s comments, with the newest comments listed first. Locate the offending comment by manually looking for it, or using the search form at the top of the page. Underneath each comment is a “Delete Comment” link — click on that link, and you will be able to delete the comment.

Deleting Spam Comments

If your blog is receiving spam comments, you should not be wasting your time manually deleting them. Instead, you should use the Akismet service to block spam.
