How to mount a mac drive on a PC
A quick intro since this is my first post. As Tom mentioned my name is
Matt Herzberger and I am web designer from Texas. I am very excited about posting on this site since I have been a fan for quite awhile.
My inspiration for this post is a problem I am facing at work right now. We have a split Mac / PC office and for some reason the Mac people have kept the PC people in the dark that you can mount a Mac drive on a PC. It’s actually very simple and here is the process.
On a mac you
- Click the Go menu at top >> Connect to server
- Then you enter the server address and it will usually be one of two options
- afp://example.com, or
- smb://example.com
- Pretty basic and simple
How do you do mount that mac drive on a PC?
- Click the start menu >> Run
- It will bring up a “open” prompt
- Then take the url from above
- IE smb:// or afp://example.com
- all you need is the “example” portion
- Type in \\example
- You are all mounted!!!
- You may want to right click and choose “Create shortcut” to make it easy next time.
