What is Palm thinking? Beats me.

Wednesday, September 19, 2007

Earlier today, I had a discussion with a colleague regarding the dismal state of affairs that is Palm, Inc. Their hand-held devices are far behind the competition, the company is busy building new products that nobody wants, and their customer service is a joke.

Speaking of Palm’s customer service, I gave their support department a call earlier to get some advice on a malfunctioning Tungsten. Unfortunately I was informed by a pre-recorded message that since our Palm device is older than 90 days, I could not even talk to a customer service agent without first paying a $25 fee. “Have your credit card ready”, the message gleefully informed. I sure would like to meet the boneheads that think this is a good way to do business.

Now, let’s take a look at Palm’s chart since 2000:

Yeah, you’re really doing a fantastic job there, Palm. Keep up the great work. My advice: think twice before buying another product from Palm, Inc. A company that doesn’t want to talk to their customers after 90 days is not one I recommend getting involved with.
