How to E-mail an Outlook 2003 Distribution List

Friday, September 28, 2007

I have created a distribution list of my contacts in Microsoft Outlook 2003, but I can’t figure out how to send an e-mail to the list.

There are a few different ways to send an e-mail to an Outlook 2003 distribution list. The following is the one I recommend to others, since it seems to be one of the quickest and least confusing. It only requires a few clicks, and does not require you to navigate any dialog windows.

  1. Click the Contacts button in Outlook’s left sidebar. It’s in the same place you normally find Mail and Calendar.
  2. Right-click on the name of your distribution list. This will bring up a context menu.
  3. In the context menu, click on Send message to contact.

As soon as you finish that last step, a new e-mail window will appear. The name of your distribution list will be in the “To:” field. Fill out the subject and body of the e-mail, then click “Send”.
