Get Free iTunes Songs from Starbucks

Saturday, September 29, 2007

The Starbucks logoStarbucks will be giving away free iTunes songs to customers between October 2nd and November 7th. The freebies are meant to promote a partnership between the coffee chain and Apple to sell digital music.

Over 50 million songs will be distributed free of charge at participating Starbucks locations. Patrons will receive “Song of the Day” cards that may be redeemed in the iTunes Music Store for pre-selected tracks from artists such as Dave Matthews and John Mayer.

The digital music giveaways promote a joint high-tech music retail operation between the two companies. Both the iPhone and iPod Touch sport a “Starbucks Feature” that pops up an extra button on your gadgets’ display whenever you come within range of a participating Starbucks. By making use of the Starbucks button, gadget owners will be able to see and purchase that coffee shop’s currently playing track.

Readers who like them some coffee and enjoy the artists on The Sound of Starbucks should find out if their local Starbucks is participating.
