Happens the same with mine. Each time I open Picasa, it takes an hour for it to read again all the information and all pictures. Is there any way it would do just for the updated pictures and not the All library from "my Pictures"? I think it used to do that but now each time I open it would read from scratch.

the problem is that when the network or usb drive is disconnected everything is removed from picasa and when they are connected again it will scan the folders from scratch. Which take almost 1 hour for my huge pictures library
