Windows utility Defraggler allows you to optimize your hard drive in a jiffy by defragmenting only specific files. Windows’ built-in defragmentation program works on your entire hard drive, which can amount to a serious time commitment. Many computer users have never defragged, either because they are not aware of the process, or they are unwilling to wait around for the defragmentation process to finish. Defraggler attacks this problem by showing you a list of fragmented files, and asking you to specify which ones should be worked on.
File fragmentation occurs when your computer is forced to split files up into chunks and store them in separate locations. Fragmentation has the potential to cause errors and latency. If you would like to know more about this topic, see “What is File Fragmentation?“.
