Save Excerpts from Video Files with Kate’s Video Cutter

Wednesday, February 25, 2009

Kate’s Video Cutter is free Windows software that can extract an excerpt from a video file and save it in a few common file formats. It is easy to use and supports a variety of formats.

Kates Video Cutter has a pretty simple interface. Open a video file, drag two sliders to the beginning and ending points of the excerpt you want, select the output format and let it rip. Supported file types are: AVI, MPEG, WMV, Quicktime, DVD, VCD and SVCD.

Kate’s Video Cutter is free software but requires you to register the product. In order to do so you must enter your e-mail address. There was no disclaimer on the registration screen regarding what the company will do with your address or whether it would be shared with third parties. I e-mailed the company’s sales inquiries department and ask about whether they have a privacy policy, and am awaiting a response.
