Speed Up Mozilla Firefox

Monday, April 16, 2007

Firefox iconMozilla Firefox is an excellent web browser, but it’s been known to chew up memory and slow down things down from time to time. This behavior is often a result of having many different browser extensions, themes, and other modifications, all of which require memory. It can also be caused by a cache and browsing history that are chock-full, or plain old memory leaks. Tech support site Zolved offers the following tips to reduce the memory usage on Firefox:

  • Upgrade to the latest and greatest version of Firefox.
  • Check your Extensions and Themes.
  • Check the Plug-ins.
  • Clear Download History.
  • Restart Firefox Periodically.
  • Assign Memory Cache on Firefox.
  • Release Memory when Firefox is minimized.

Check out the Zolved article for illustrated explanations of these tips. Link via [GAS].
