Tuesday, August 14, 2007

resetting the mac os x passwordIf you have lost or forgotten your Mac OS X password, you may be able to recover it with one of the methods outlined in “Reset a Lost OS X Account Password” from Mac tips blog Mac OS X Tips. The article discusses a number of different situations, including:

  • Recovering/changing a user account password.
  • Resetting the administrator password.
  • Resetting a FileVault protected user’s account.
  • Resetting a password without the Mac OS X installation disc.

The last option, resetting a password without the installation disc, will permanently damage a FileVault-protected account. If your account is protected by FileVault, don’t even try it.
